About Crosswinds

Crosswinds Church is a Christ-Centered community in Plainfield Illinois, located at the corner of Route 59 & 143rd Street. It is a place where you can discover who God is and live out your faith in uplifting and practical ways. We believe the Bible teaches that we don’t come to church but that we are the church, so we teach our members to have an impact on their families, workplaces, schools, community, and beyond. The church was started by ordinary people who God has used to do great things to show love and kindness in Plainfield, our county, our region, our state, and other countries..

Our goal is not just for you to come and visit us but for you to take what you learn about God at Crosswinds and share that with someone else to encourage them on their journey. God has a wonderful design for our lives, but life can be hard and we live in a broken world. We all need help and encouragement on our journey, so we seek to give people practical tools. These tools not only help them find peace and joy in their everyday lives, but help others to do the same. We are not perfect. The Bible says no one but Jesus is perfect, but we hope you will come and grow with us. We hope you will help us to make our lives and the lives of others better by discovering the hope that is found in Jesus Christ!

Meet the Family

Unchanging
Luke 16:14-17 | Sun, May 28, 2023 | Pastor Ken Schultz

One thing that we learn from the scriptures is that God is immutable. God does not change. The new generation of young people have seen rapid change in things like the way we communicate and the family structure. 1 out of 5 of our teens, well before the legal age of consent, are already identifying themselves with various sexual identities. And many churches today have added to this confusion in an effort to appease society they have reconstructed the Bible. There are eternal and unchanging truths that guide us, that have been given to us by our creator. In this message we look at what Jesus says to us, words that are unchanging truths to any culture.

The Gospel of True Prosperity
Luke 16:9-17 | Sun, May 21, 2023 | Pastor Ken Schultz

Just like Jesus got ridiculed by His audience after the parable in Luke 16, the church often gets ridiculed when we talk about money, like that is all the church cares about. But that is definitely true at Crosswinds! One of the reasons why people object to the church preaching about money is because there are some churches that preach a false gospel of prosperity. It is true that you can’t outgive God. If you give to Him, he will give to you much more in return, not necessarily more money, that is prosperity teaching, but rather more eternal blessings.

Life Management
Luke 16:1-9 | Sun, May 14, 2023 | Pastor Ken Schultz

The parable in Luke 16 about Shrewd Manager can be a confusing one. At first glance it may appear as though Jesus is approving of the manager's dishonest behavior. Jesus is not giving any approval here for dishonesty or corruption, instead He is trying to teach us something about how we should manage our lives with integrity.

Prayer
Matthew 6:19-25 | Sun, May 07, 2023 | Joshua Amara

Joshua Amara from Kenya spoke about the importance of prayer and how the Bible not only calls us to pray but teaches that we need to pray. Prayer is a duty and an obligation for us all, but we also need to be careful about the words we choose to use when we pray. Prayer needs to be relational to commune with the Father.

Come to Yourself!
Luke 15:17-24 | Sun, Apr 23, 2023 | Pastor Ken Schultz

In this message we specifically look at the Prodigal son parable in Luke 15:17 - 24, when the prodigal son realizes that he needs to go back to the Father.

You can go your own way

See & Believe
John 20:1-18 | Sun, Apr 09, 2023 | Pastor Ken Schultz

People say seeing is believing! But it is much more complicated. We must see enough to overcome our doubts to believe. Actually we don't have to physically see something to believe it, for example we do not have to see the wind to believe that it exists. We see the effects of the wind, but we never really see the wind, yet we know it exists. In this Easter message we look at the resurrection in John 20: 1 - 18 and we see three of Jesus' close friends and disciples that had doubts about the resurrection. Each had to see more until they believed.

Untie the Donkey
Matthew 21:1-11 | Sun, Apr 02, 2023 | Pastor Ken Schultz

Palm Sunday Message on the story of Jesus coming into town on the back of a donkey in Matthew 21. In this message we think of ourselves as the donkey that Jesus has need of. We learn from God's word how we can be faithfully untied as a donkey to be of service to Him.

Lost, but never forgotten

Part of our You turn to joy series on the parables in Luke 15. This part of the series looks at the woman who lost one of her coins and reminds us that we are never forgotten by God.
