About Crosswinds

Crosswinds Church is a Christ-Centered community in Plainfield Illinois, located at the corner of Route 59 & 143rd Street. It is a place where you can discover who God is and live out your faith in uplifting and practical ways. We believe the Bible teaches that we don’t come to church but that we are the church, so we teach our members to have an impact on their families, workplaces, schools, community, and beyond. The church was started by ordinary people who God has used to do great things to show love and kindness in Plainfield, our county, our region, our state, and other countries..

Our goal is not just for you to come and visit us but for you to take what you learn about God at Crosswinds and share that with someone else to encourage them on their journey. God has a wonderful design for our lives, but life can be hard and we live in a broken world. We all need help and encouragement on our journey, so we seek to give people practical tools. These tools not only help them find peace and joy in their everyday lives, but help others to do the same. We are not perfect. The Bible says no one but Jesus is perfect, but we hope you will come and grow with us. We hope you will help us to make our lives and the lives of others better by discovering the hope that is found in Jesus Christ!

Time for Action: How to get into your right mind
Romans 12:1-2 | Sat, Aug 15, 2015 | Pastor John Stillman

Research tells us that insight tends to come from the right side of the brain, but the reality is that no one is really in his or her right mind apart from the work of God in transforming our way of thinking. In this message, Pastor John looks at how we can get into our right mind through the insight of the Scriptures.

Time for Action: Someone to guide me
1 Samuel 3:1-19 | Mon, Aug 10, 2015 | Pastor John Stillman

On our own, we seem wired to resist change and fight for what is in our own best interest. However, real turnaround sometimes happens when we can say, "I have someone to guide me." When God spoke to young Samuel, and when he speaks to little boys and grown-up men and women today, He is giving a call to action and the promise of His help.

Taking an honest look at others
Luke 15:25-32 | Sun, Aug 02, 2015 | Pastor John Stillman

Sometimes insights grow into discernment, which can grow into judgment. In this message, we look at the Father's interaction with judgmental, older brothers to see when judgment is right, when judgment is wrong, and the Father's wisdom to help us correct our judgment.

Taking an Honest Look at Myself
James 1:13-27 | Sun, Jul 26, 2015 | Pastor John Stillman

Prodigals can come up with all sorts of excuses for why they are in the pigpen, but none of those get us out. In this message, Pastor John looks at how we can get out of the pigpen, beginning with an honest look at ourselves.

Taking the First Steps Home
Luke 15 | Sun, Jul 19, 2015 | Pastor John Stillman

What do you think God thinks about when He has nothing to think about? While God never has nothing to do, and He has plenty to think about, one thing the Bible tells us is that God is concerned about those who have lost their way and He rejoices when they are found.
