About Crosswinds

Crosswinds Church is a Christ-Centered community in Plainfield Illinois, located at the corner of Route 59 & 143rd Street. It is a place where you can discover who God is and live out your faith in uplifting and practical ways. We believe the Bible teaches that we don’t come to church but that we are the church, so we teach our members to have an impact on their families, workplaces, schools, community, and beyond. The church was started by ordinary people who God has used to do great things to show love and kindness in Plainfield, our county, our region, our state, and other countries..

Our goal is not just for you to come and visit us but for you to take what you learn about God at Crosswinds and share that with someone else to encourage them on their journey. God has a wonderful design for our lives, but life can be hard and we live in a broken world. We all need help and encouragement on our journey, so we seek to give people practical tools. These tools not only help them find peace and joy in their everyday lives, but help others to do the same. We are not perfect. The Bible says no one but Jesus is perfect, but we hope you will come and grow with us. We hope you will help us to make our lives and the lives of others better by discovering the hope that is found in Jesus Christ!

How to say you're sorry.
| Sun, Feb 26, 2017 | Pastor John Stillman

“I’m sorry.” Just two words, and sometimes very difficult to say. But if you’ve ever begun a conversation with those two words, there is a lot of promise in them too, because those words open the door to overcoming conflict. In this message we'll focus on learning how to say "I'm sorry" with some very practical words from Scripture.

How to Forgive
| Sun, Feb 19, 2017 | Pastor John Stillman

The Christian life is harder than the non-Christian life because people will hurt you and you don't get to turn around and treat them the same way. Instead, followers of Jesus are to forgive and reconcile. In this message, Pastor John walks us through the steps to get to the place of forgiveness and reconciliation.

Don't find fault. Find a remedy.
Matthew 18:15-20 | Sun, Feb 12, 2017 | Pastor John Stillman

Conflict brings both bad opportunities and good. The bad side is when we try to escape conflict or attach others in response to it. The good side is when we use the peacemaking steps that Jesus gave us in Matthew 18:15-20. In today's message, Pastor John addresses the first practical steps of peacemaking.

Conflict is Inevitable
| Sun, Feb 05, 2017 | Pastor John Stillman

There is a great deal of conflict in our world right now, but this is not really anything new. Conflict is an inevitable fact of life in this world. God's aim is not for us to be completely free of conflict, but to resolve our conflicts using the wisdom and ways that He has provided. In this message, Pastor John reviews responses to conflict that are peace faking and peace breaking, before we see God's great peace making response.

Burning Through Sorrow
John 16:13-22 | Mon, Jan 16, 2017 | Pastor Ken Schultz

Stirring the Embers
John 16:7-20 | Sun, Jan 08, 2017 | Pastor Ken Schultz

Stoking spiritual fire in our hearts takes the Holy Spirit stirring the coals of the church by convincing us of sin, and blowing in the fresh oxygen of grace at the same time by convincing us of the goodness of Christ to sinners. In addition, we must be convinced of judgement and that it is placed on Him so that we may go free and fight our sin from victory, not for victory.

Ignition
John 15-16 | Sun, Jan 01, 2017 | Pastor Ken Schultz

Does the fire of your faith need to be stoked so that it does not grow cold? In today’s message we look at the role of the Holy Spirit as oxygen stoking our fire while He lives in us through the power of Jesus' words as we abide in Him!

When you've been waiting a long time, Jesus is enough.
Luke 2:25-35 | Fri, Dec 23, 2016 | Pastor John Stillman

Waiting can be one of the most irritating experiences we face, and no day exemplifies waiting perhaps more than Christmas. In today's message from Luke 2, Pastor John looks at the brief story of a man named Simeon who's life teaches us some important truths of how to process waiting, and the dawning realization that Jesus is enough.

When you're looking for answers, Jesus is enough
Matthew 2:1-12 | Sun, Dec 18, 2016 | Pastor John Stillman

Google and other online search engines process nearly 100,000 searches per second every day! Remarkably, upwards of 20% of all those searches are questions that have never been asked before. So, we're not just asking the same old questions, but new questions are coming up. In this message, Pastor John looks at the story of the magi's visit to Bethlehem to help us understand how to find the answers to life's most important question.
