We
believe Church Membership should mean something!
In a culture where commitment is no longer highly valued, we
believe it is
important to clearly define church membership. Our membership
process
challenges each person to openly affirm a personal commitment to
Jesus Christ
and His followers through active participation in a local church.
We are
convinced that active church membership can be a significant step
in our
life-long discipleship journey and helps you define your Christian
commitment.
4 Reasons for Church Membership:
1. A Biblical Reason. Christ is committed to the church.
"...Christ loved the
church, and He gave His life for it." (Ephesians 5:25)
2. A Cultural Reason. It is an antidote to our society. Membership
swims
against the current of America's "consumer religion." It
is an unselfish
decision. Commitment always builds character.
3. A Practical Reason. It defines who can be counted on. Every
organization
has some criteria by which its members are identified. Membership
identifies
our family.
4. A Personal Reason. It produces spiritual growth. The New Testament
emphasizes the need for Christians to be accountable to each other
for
spiritual growth. You cannot be accountable when you're not
committed to any
specific church family. |

What are the steps of Membership?
Step 1:
Because the core of our church is relationships... the
membership process
begins as we get to know each other when you:
Worship with us. In our worship you will get to know the heart of
the Crosswinds family and the manner in which we respond to God's presence
among us.
Participate in a Bible Study. The best place to begin meeting some
of the
individuals who make up our church family is in our Discovery Bible Study
Groups. We strongly emphasize the importance of these groups. In a
church our size it is through these groups that we not only study
the Bible but express much of our concern and Christian love for
one another.
Get Involved (Even Volunteer). There are a variety of
classes, activities and ministries that go on throughout the week.
Many of our volunteers are not yet members, but are learning more
about the church through service.
Step 2:
Because we want to help you make an informed decision... we
offer the
Discovering Church Membership 101 Class to all who want to know
more about us.
Sign-up for 101 Class. Talk to Pastor John
immediately
following a worship service. They will assist you in getting
registered forthe next Discovering Church Membership 101 Class.
Attend the 101 Class. This 4-hour class (complete with meal
and child care)
presents vital information about the church and a member's
responsibility. There also is time for you to ask questions. We want you to have
all the
information you need prior to making this important decision. The
class
typically is offered on a Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Childcare is
provided.
Step 3:
Because unity is essential for a healthy church... a
person becomes a member by signing the church covenant.
Commit to our Church Covenant. During the Discovering
Church Membership 101 Class, Pastor John will read over the Church
Covenant and give everyone in the class an opportunity to sign a
copy. Those choosing to sign the covenant become members at that
time. (If a person has not yet been baptized by immersion since
their decision to follow Christ, they remain a member candidate
until their baptism.)
Participate as an Active Member. Begin serving! We will help
you to find a place of involvement in Crosswinds
Church....
